Employers typically look for candidates with specialist experience of any of the above - they need to be able to deal with challenging behaviour and difficult situations. Applicants for project worker jobs must also have previous experience or have done some voluntary work. There are no specific qualifications needed.
Knowledge of supporting people framework, support plans, promoting independent living skills, empathising with challenging behaviour and excellent organisational skills are all core competencies sought. There are many courses you can do depending on the group of people dealt with.
