Surveying the landscape

Land surveying covers anything from site and floor plans, elevations and sections as well as surveys for rights of light analysis. The list extends to accurate VISUAL Representation surveys, terrain modeling/analysis, volumetric, underground and legal boundary surveyes as well as control networks and grids.

Deformation monitoring and precise leveling, laser scanning, areas surveys, 3D computer modeling and rendering for presentations, survey and CAD consultancy are other pivotal components of land surveying jobs.

Land surveying jobs skills

To make the grade in Land Surveying,  a relevant qualification ie BEng/BSc/HND in Land Surveying or Surveying/Mapping Sciences is required. A proven track record of measured building surveys and topographical surveys is distinctly advantageous.

Exposure to a variety of the latest 2D and 3D software packages, including AutoCAD, DXF, Moss and PDS Eclipse are also highly desirable. The ability to operate survey equipment and understanding coding and string structures using the latest survey technology is desirable.
