Infrastructure jobs pave the way
Experience of investigating and designing new traffic and transport infrastructure developments is an advantage as is prior experience of designs relating to foul and surface water drainage. On the highways front, you could be responsible for all aspects of highways design, including horizontal and vertical alignment and junction and roundabout design using MX.
Knowledge and awareness of the regulated and deregulated utility infrastructure provisions and experience in negotiating planning agreements is an advantage as is the use of Highways Agency’s design standards.
Use your initiative and be a team player
Qualifications vary but standard requirements range from a BA/BSc qualification in civil engineering or an HNC/HND in Civil Engineering. Knowledge of design software ie AutoCAD, WinDes, PDS and Micro Drainage is desirable.
